United Heavy Machinery Plants is Russia's only heavy machine-building company with experience fulfilling EPC contracts, primarily in the oil and gas sector, metallurgy, and other branches of industry. United Heavy Machinery Plants is also successfully adapting foreign technologies and gradually improving their localization in Russia.

Over the past 10 years, United Heavy Machinery Plants has implemented a great number of significant EPC projects.

SOSNOGORSK GAS PROCESSING PLANT (SOSNOGORSK, REPUBLIC OF KOMI)

Construction of the facility began in 2001 and the project was completed in 2004.

The main partners (subcontractors) of ŠKODA JS working on the project were OPD (Koch-Glitsch), Chemoprojekt, and the joint-stock company Severodonetsky ORGKHIM.

GAS DEHYDRATION UNIT FOR MALAY-BAGTIYARLYK GAS PIPELINE FACILITIES

The pre-transport gas treatment unit is intended for extracting heavy hydrocarbons and water vapors from natural gas in order to prevent the possibility of hydrate formation and hydrocarbon condensate precipitation in the gas stream while it is being transported along the off-shore section of the Blue Stream gas pipeline.

CREATION OF AN AIR SEPARATION SHOP FOR ON-SITE PROVISION OF INDUSTRIAL GASES TO SEVERSKY TUBE WORKS (TMK)

In 2009, the company commissioned an air separation shop that was created based on the air separation unit KdAAr-9/3, which has an oxygen output of 9,000 m3/hr, nitrogen output of 3,300 m3/hr, liquid argon output of 300 m3/hr, and oxygen and nitrogen liquefier OKA-3000 with a cumulative liquid cryogenic product output of 3,000 kg/hr.

The shop includes cryogenic air separation unit KdAAr-9/3, liquefier OKA-3000, a liquid cryogenic product storage system (for oxygen, nitrogen, and argon) with a cumulative volume of 600 m3, an autonomous water supply system, oxygen recipients, an oxygen distribution point, an industrial gas commercial metering point, a weighing room, and laboratories for chromatography and chemical analyses.

In addition to designing the shop and designing and manufacturing equipment, Cryogenmash completed construction, assembly, start-up and commissioning work, and conducted personnel training. The project's budget was more than 30 million euros.

CREATION OF AN AIR SEPARATION SHOP FOR ON-SITE PROVISION OF INDUSTRIAL GASES TO PERVOURALSKY NOVOTRUBNY WORKS (ChTPZ GROUP)

In 2012, the company commissioned an air separation shop that was created based on the air separation unit KdAAr-9/5, which has an oxygen output of 9,000 m3/hr, nitrogen output of 5,000 m3/hr, liquid argon output of 265 m3/hr, and oxygen and nitrogen liquefier OKA-3000 with a cumulative liquid cryogenic product output of 3,000 kg/hr.

CREATION OF A LARGE-SCALE CRYOGENIC COMPLEX FOR TURN-KEY PROVISION OF AIR SEPARATION PRODUCTS TO OJSC URAL STEEL

In 2007, OJSC Ural Steel, which is based in the city of Novotroitsk, concluded a contract with Cryogenmash for the construction of an oxygen plant based on air separation unit KdAr-30.

This contract also resulted in the creation of a modern unit KdAr-30, which produces 30 thousand m3/hr of gaseous oxygen, 5,400 kg/hr of liquid products (nitrogen, oxygen and argon), as well as a neon-helium mixture and krypton-xenon concentrate.

A storage and product pipeline system was constructed to store and transport air separation products. Based on the contract, the project was completed in turn-key fashion; in addition to designing and manufacturing equipment, Cryogenmash completed design, construction, assembly, start-up and commissioning work, and conducted personnel training.

The project's budget was more than 40 million euros.

PELLETIZING PLANT FOR MIKHAILOVSKY GOK

  • Customer: Metalloinvest Holding
  • General supplier: OJSC Uralmashzavod

This is the first major investment project of Russian companies into iron ore processing in the past 25 years.

The design capacity of the pelletizing plant is 5 million tons of pellets.

Production of raw pellets in calcinating conveyor machine No.3 (TKOM 3) will be carried out in eight OB-3,6x14 pelletizing drums. Heat treatment of commercial-grade raw pellets will be carried out in calcinating conveyor machine MOK-1-592M, which for the first time has been equipped with a three-section drying zone, a four-section cooling zone, and side overflow collectors.

Implementation of the project at Mikhailovsky GOK will help ensure the following technical and production parameters compliant with the best global indicators:

  • Cold compression strength as per ISO 4700 - at least 250 kg/pellet
  • Specific consumption of natural gas – no more than 10 nm3/t of suitable pellets

Specific consumption of electricity – no more than 36 kWh/t of suitable pellets.

CRUSHING PLANT FOR RUPP GRANIT

  • Customer: RUPP Granit (Republic of Belarus)
  • General supplier: OJSC Uralmashzavod

This plant is intended for the processing of diorites, granodiorites, and granites, and their yield of aggregate that is compliant with the requirements of European standards.

Production indicators:

  • Productivity for commercial-grade crushed stone in fractions of 16/32 mm, 8/16 mm, and 4/8 mm – at least 670 t/hr, which corresponds to a production capacity of 3 million tons per year with at least 4,500 working hours.
  • The plasticity of commercial-grade fractions of 16/32 mm, 8/16 mm, and 4/8 mm shall comply with the Republic of Belarus standard STB EN 13043-2007 as follows: F115 – for commercial-grade fractions obtained without using centrifugal crushers DTs-1,6; F110 – for commercial-grade fractions obtained using centrifugal crusher DTs-1,6.

Uralmashzavod was the first in Russian practice to accomplish the complex task of engineering and delivering equipment under EPC contract conditions for this type of production.
